Proposed Amendments to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The Heartland Regional Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) announces the start of a seven-day public comment and review period for proposed amendments to the FY 2017/18 through FY 2021/22 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) requested by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).  The TIP is a list of funded transportation projects covering a period of five years. Adopted each year in June, the TIP is updated by amendment throughout the year to ensure authorization of federal funds.

The proposed amendments include:

  • DeSoto County Drainage Improvements – The HRTPO has received a request from FDOT to amend the FY 2017/18 – FY 2021/22 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to include the design and construction phase for a drainage improvement project on Parker Avenue from SR 70 to W Hickory Street. This project was recently added to the FDOT 5 Year Work Program and this amendment to include the project in the TIP is necessary to ensure authorization of federal funds in the current fiscal year.
  • FTA Section 5310 Operating Assistance for Ridge Area ARC – The HRTPO has received a request from FDOT to amend the FY 2017/18 – FY 2021/22 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to include Federal Transit Administration Section 5310 Operating Assistance funds recently awarded to Ridge Area ARC, Inc.
  • Adjustment of project limits of Intersection Improvement for US 27 and SR 64 – The HRTPO has received a request from FDOT to amend the FY 2017/18 – FY 2021/22 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to clarify the project limits for an intersection improvement in Highlands County at US 27 and SR 64 and revise construction costs.
