Proposed Amendments to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The Heartland Regional Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) announces the start of a seven-day public comment and review period for proposed amendments to the FY 2017/18 through FY 2021/22 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) requested by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).  The TIP is a list of funded transportation projects covering a period of five years. Adopted each year in June, the TIP is updated by amendment throughout the year to ensure authorization of federal funds.

The proposed amendments include:

  • Highlands County Drainage Improvements – The HRTPO has received a request from FDOT to amend the FY 2017/18 – FY 2021/22 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to reduce the project limits from Woodlawn Drive to Pasadena Ave. to east of Theon St to west of Claudia Ave. This amendment is necessary to ensure authorization of federal funds in the current Fiscal Year 2017/2018.
  • Okeechobee County Drainage Improvements – The HRTPO has received a request from FDOT to amend the FY 2017/18 – FY 2021/22 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to reduce the project limits from  US 98/SR 700 from NW Street to SR 70  to SR 700/US 98 from north of NW 6th St to S of NW 20th Ave. This amendment is necessary to ensure authorization of federal funds in the current Fiscal Year 2017/2018.

The comment period for the TIP proposed amendment begins on January 24, 2018, and comments will be accepted through January 30, 2018. The proposed TIP amendments will be presented for adoption to the HRTPO Board at their meeting on February 21, 2018, with at least seven (7) days public notice. An opportunity for public comment will be available at the meeting before Board action is taken.
