Heartland

Safety Action Plan

The Heartland Safety Action Plan is being developed in partnership with DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands and Okeechobee counties of Florida and the municipalities within those counties.  It will provide a comprehensive strategy and project identification, shaped by data, stakeholder input and equity considerations, that will address the safety problems in the region.

The plan is currently in the process of data collection and analysis. The tables and graphs below illustrate the number of crashes by county by total as well as those that resulted in serious injury or death.

County Heat Maps of Crash Data

The maps below illustrate the locations where those crashes are concentrated within the region and by each county.

The heat maps provided illustrate where the crashes that resulted in serious injuries and/or fatalities occurred within each county in the TPO region. Areas where the greatest number of crashes occurred show up as orange and red.

The crash data for the tables, graphs and heat maps are summarized from data obtained from the Signal 4 Analytics website. Signal 4 Analytics is developed and hosted for the State of Florida at the University of Florida.
